World of Starcraft

I just saw this on Kotaku and had to repost. I must say, for a mod using SC2 tools, I'm pretty blown away with what they are doing.

  1. I was hoping Kinto was going to post this story. Oh well!

This is a pretty impressive mod for SC2. I wonder how many players can play at the sametime though.

  2. I was quite impressed by the video too. I tend to forget just how powerful the SC2 engine is not to mention the Universe editor.

I am curious though to see if Blizzard brings down the ban hammer on this project. We know that Blizzard is working on their next MMO, project named Titan. Though we don't know if it will be a new World of Warcraft, set in the Diablo universe or the Star Craft universe. I doubt what this guy is doing is in anyway damaging but Blizzard have been quick to bring down mods and stand alone projects that are similar towards a future release. Anyone remember the group of modders who were making a 3D version of the original star craft back when Brood War was in it's prime. Blizzard took them down quite quickly.

Hopefully they'll let this guy keep working and we can all get a chance to play the BETA.

This video is no longer available due to a copyright claim by Activision Games Inc.

  4. LOL! I see that more from Activision than I do Blizzard. Blizzard already confirmed that the new MMO project is not set in the SC or Diablo univers, and that it is a new IP. But it wouldn't surprise me if Activision wasn't trying to protect the idea for a potential future project. Even if they went to a 3rd party developer to make a "hack and slash" thrid-person SC game. Couldn't you see Activision using a Treyarch or something to develop a game like that? For the iPhone lol? Anyway, it wouldn't surprise me at all.

  5. That's impossible unless Blizzard gives Activision permission. Blizzard owns all the rights to their IPs. Thank god. That's why they can take their sweet ass time making games.
